Infrastructure - Power

We have extensive experience in co-ordinating power deals; shaping the wholesale and retail power markets. At Àrgentil Capital Partners, we understand commercial and regulatory frameworks, as well as the network of operators within the region. Our specialised team has extensive industry knowledge in Independent Power Projects (IPP), gas to power, and other workable power solutions. We have been actively involved in structuring and financing power projects, ranging from the development of power generation and distribution assets, to the acquisition of existing assets. Our exemplary combination of industry knowledge, technical and commercial experience propels us to deliver first-class services to clients in this essential sector.

The ongoing power sector reforms in Nigeria initiated the unbundling of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria; establishing six generation companies, 11 distribution companies and the Transmission Company of Nigeria. The government targets the attraction of private investments in the successor companies, and upcoming independent power projects, to increase the nation’s power supply. Àrgentil Capital Partners has participated in the process of bidding for successor companies and the development of IPPs in financial co-ordination and financial advisory capacities. Our team has also participated in regulatory framework development.

We are experts in:

    • Mergers and acquisition advisory in new and existing power facilities, divestiture of existing power supporting infrastructure, risk assessment, and deal co-ordination.

    • Commercial relationship between private and public sector clients; regulatory impact consideration, strategy and negotiation, and support of clients in Public-Private transactions.

  • Supporting clients with project development, forecast and analysis and transaction management until financial close.

Our services include:

  • Assessing the commercial, contractual and risk structure of the project.
  • Development of a financial model capturing technical and commercial inputs of the assets; performing scenario and sensitivity analysis; assessment of debt capacity and assessment of initial capital expenditure funding.
  • Development of financing plans and transaction structure.
  • Identifying and pursuing target sources of finance.
  • Co-ordination and management of activities to financial close.
